Proposal submitted for community gardens in Newlands/Paparangi

The proposal for two community gardens in Newlands/Paparangi was submitted to the Wellington City Council on 8 July 2011. We were told at that stage it would take around 4 months to be approved.

The proposal for the Jay Street reserve went to the October meeting of Council, where it was approved subject to public consultation.

We held our first community meeting to discuss plans for the gardens on 26 October in the Newlands Community Centre.

By early December we had approval to go ahead with the garden at Jay Street and were able to plan for our first working bee.
